Lada luwu, also known as Sulawesi-pepper mentioned, originates from the Indonesian island also known as Celebes, and is cultivated in Luwu Timur (Kabupaten East Luwu), one of the regencies in South Sulawesi.

The cultivation of black pepper It began on the island of South Sulawesi in the 1930s, east of Lake Towuti. The Luwu Raya community lives here.

Maruttung is used in cultivation, a technique for the propagation and germination of the pepperPlants by cuttings. The pepper has regional protection: Masyarakat Perlindungan Indikasi Geografis (MPIG). About five thousand farmers united in fall under this protection. 182 farmers' groups and mostly locally operating local cooperatives.

For most farming families, the peppercultivation is their only source of income. On average, the yield from their 1,000–1,500 square meter plot is 1,000 kilograms, or 0.7 tons per hectare.

Why not organic?
