Although also part of Oceania, Australia – including mainland Australia, Tasmania, and New Guinea – and Zealandandia – including New Zealand – are separate continents.
Sometimes food from these countries is labeled as 'bushfood'.
This does not mean the place where it is found, the bush, but the knowledge that it is indigenous food used by the original population before the arrival of Westerners in this region. Often, these are products that have been gathered for millennia by the traditionally nomadic population, known as Aboriginals.
