Collection: Anacardiaceae (cashew family)

This plant family—also called the smoke tree family—grows primarily in tropical and subtropical regions. Most species originate from tropical America, Africa, and India, with a few species, such as the pistachio, originating in southern Europe.

Under the plant species that are important for our food include the fruit-bearing Anacardium occidentale (cashew) Mangifera indica (mango) and Schinus (pink pepperbes), and the Pistacia lentiscus, from which the wonderfully scented resin (mastic) is tapped.

We sell two types of 'pink' from this family pepperbes', the Brazilian and the Peruvian, with the same spiciness, thanks to the carvacrol in the seed. The Brazilian pepperThe berry is somewhat fuller in colour and sweeter than the Peruvian, which in turn has a delicious 'sourness'.

In In March 2023 we started selling chios mastiha stopped, forced to do so by the widely varying interest. With a heavy heart, it is and remains a fantastic product.
