Advieh berenj, or simply advieh, is a spice blend primarily used in rice dishes. It is a classic Persian spice blend that comes in various compositions, such as Indian garams and Moroccan ras el hanouts.
This advieh berenj is a variation on the famous adviehs of the highlands, to which pistachios and saffron are usually also added. In the, considered the standard of classic Persian cuisine The legendary cuisine of Persia Margaret Shaida gives the following classic recipes:
- green cardamom
- pistachios
- black pepper
- cinnamon
- saffron
- rose petals and
- some sugar
The use of rose petals originates in the northwest of the country and the Persian plateau. This advieh mixture gives rice dishes a characteristic aroma when the advieh is sprinkled over the rice grains while the rice is steaming (!)
Scent and taste
Our Advieh Berenj follows the classic recipe, with the addition of a warm accent in the form of nutmeg. Saffron and pistachios are omitted—often already included in the recipe—but can of course be added according to your own taste. The aromas of this Advieh are best appreciated when prepared as described above. while steaming the rice is added, and not, as is often suggested, used as a topping for steamed rice, as you would with a Japanese furikake, although that is of course possible.

DDe mentioned expiration date is an indication of the shelf life. Because many factors can influence the maintenance of the quality of a spice, you may have to take it sooner or enjoy it for a long time. Trust your senses of smell and taste.

Our packaging
Our packaging
We supply this product in a practical twist-off jar (clear glass) of 128ml and in bags. For smaller quantities we use laminated stand-up pouches with ziplock closure, made of PET and PE. The bag is approximately 90% recyclable and is collected with the plastic.
Our two-layer bio-based kraft bags consist of a layer of 60 gram kraft paper and 80 micron PLA plastic. This bag is 100% biodegradable and can be placed in the green bin.
We use our aluminum bags for packaging larger quantities. These three-layer bags are made of laminated 12 micron PET, 7 micron aluminum and 60 micron PE. This combination makes it not possible to fully recycle the bags. These bags must be presented with the other waste.
The test tubes are made of PS plastic, have a diameter of 16 millimeters and a length of 100 millimeters. The caps are made of LDPE.
