The Wayanadpepper TGSEB is the absolute top of the line Tellicherry from the Malabar Coast. It is grown in the Western Ghats, in the Wayanad Valley. Like Tellicherrypepper is this pepper a blend of peppervarieties.

The pepper is grown organically in the Wayanad Valley. The Wayanad region is known for the Periyar Tiger Reserve and is part of the UNESCO-protected Cardamom Hills. The main crops in the Wayanad Valley are coffee, cocoa, and cardamom, along with the local blackcurrant. pepperThe pepper is fertilized in the classical way, with cow dung and neem leaves (Azadirachta indica), a natural pesticide.

The plants grow in a special setting with its own microclimate, which allows pepperplant is given the opportunity to grow longer than usual into full, starchy berries. This produces a pepper which is deep red to deep brown, not black. The scent is reminiscent of sandalwood. Wayanad pepper has been under the Indian Geographical Protection since 2006.

Our Wayanadpepper is a Tellicherry - collective name for large pepperberries from the Malabar region - of the TGSEB type (Tellicherry Garbled Special Extra Bold), with a grit size of 4.75 mm or larger. This time, the grit is even extra large!

The pepper comes from an organic grower in Pulpally, the area where our Banasura also comes frompepper comes from. Our pepper is dried in special rooms, not in the sun, which further preserves the already exceptional aromas.

Why are we selling this pepper not as organic pepper?

Because we are an online store and ship the freshly packaged products and do not physically hand them over, our peppers considered produced under our own label. Because we are not certified, we are not allowed to offer you the products as organic.
