Collection: Our tail peppers

The best known, but not the only tail pepper is the Indonesian cubeb or cubeb pepper (Piper cubebe), a 'real' pepper from the Piperaceae family. Other, less well-known tail peppers from this family are the - quite rare - Voatsiperifery (Piper borbonense) from Madagascar or Réunion and the Ashanti pepper or Benin pepper (Piper guineense) also from Africa. The latter is the less bitter substitute for cubeb pepper, ideal for use in sweet dishes such as speculaas and ginger nuts.
