Weight and packaging method

Malabar pepper is a blend of black peppers from the Malabar coastal strip in western India. Malabar has a rich history, which is a model for all widely applicable peppers. The blend guarantees a consistent taste.

Geographical indication (Indian label)

The Malabar Coastal Strip extends across the Indian states of Kerala and Karnataka. A large part of this area was part of the then kingdom of Keralapoutra, where first the Portuguese, later the Dutch, the French and the British exerted their influence. It was already an important trade center three thousand years before Christ, and therefore has a very diverse population. It is known as the cradle of pepper and the pepper trade, which began more than two millennia before our era with the first trade via land routes between the Egyptians and the inhabitants of 'Malabar'.

Around the beginning of the common era, other peoples also became involved in trade on Malabar, both by land and by sea, from the moment that the wind systems on the Indian Ocean could be understood and structured trade routes could be opened. The tradition of Malabar pepper goes back that far. In addition to this famous blend, the Malabar Coast has three Tellicherry selections, the Tellicherry Bold, the Tellicherry Garbled Extra Bold and the Tellicherry Garbled Extra Special Bold (TGESB), including the Tellicherry from Wayanad, a higher altitude game reserve.
